Studio Policies and Procedures

  • The studio is open for your use during posted lab hours and class time.
  • No smoking, no food or drinks in the studio.  OSHA requirements prohibit food and drink in the studio.  A coffee machine is located in the locker room for your use.
  • Label all your personal items.
  • Clean up after yourself.  Anything taken out of cabinets must be returned to its proper place after use.  All of you are responsible for the maintenance of the equipment and tools that are shared in the studio.
  • Any personal belongings left in studio will be thrown away, or become communal use.
  • Make safety your highest priority while you work.  You are required to wear proper protection while working.  Working in pairs is strongly recommended. You may not work in the studio alone.
  • No one is to use the press area without taking the checkout test regarding safety and the use of this area... even if you have used it previously.  It is costly to replace cut or soiled blankets, misused inks, etc.
  • Nothing but regular paper is to be cut on the table paper cutter.  No cardboard papers, etc.
  • Nothing other than roofing copper is to be used on the small press without permission, only lexan and roofing copper on the big press.  There are special settings necessary for the protection of the rollers and blankets.
  • All palettes should be cleaned with oil and paper wiped. Follow up with water and Fantastik to get rid of the oily film.  Otherwise the inks of color are altered and made muddy.
  • Please allow time for proper clean-up during lab or class time.  The print you could ruin could be yours!
